Welcome to Sylvan Park

Live Pool Updates

Established in 1964, Sylvan Park holds its place as a cherished social club in Harrison Township. Rooted in the commitment to providing a haven for recreation, our expansive facilities reflect a legacy of community and enjoyment. Here, our 365,000-gallon heated pool is a gathering space for leisure and laps, complemented by two one-meter diving boards and a unique 200-foot waterslide that adds a touch of excitement. The sprawling lawn, a testament to openness, invites moments of relaxation, and our cherished concession stand, ever at the ready, serves up treats around the clock. Families find comfort in our detached baby pool, creating a space for shared experiences. Sylvan Park stands not just as a pool but as a source of pride, inviting all to embrace the tranquility and joy it has offered for decades.

A letter from our Board President

Hello and happy spring Sylvan members. I hope you had a healthy and prosperous off-season.

Our goal as a board, along with the support of our Sylvan members, is to make our park a safe and wholesome
environment for everyone. We hope to continue many of our traditions, but like every entity some changes are
needed. For example, some of our rules have been changed, removed, or added. Please read over the rules and
return the acknowledgment form with your invoice. Besides adhering to the rules, we cannot stress enough that
membership cards must be carried and presented at all times. Like all social clubs, store/shopping clubs, etc.,
members are required to present membership cards when entering. Sylvan is no different. Protocols are in place and
must be followed at the gate or admittance will be denied.

The 2023 season was another record year for Sylvan, and because of that allowed us to improve and upgrade many
things around the pool. Noticeably was the completion of the slide exterior and supports. The two-year rehabilitation
project and some preventative maintenance should help keep our slide functional for years to come. We also added
handicap-accessible picnic tables and upgraded our exterior lights and shower hardware. Each of these projects was
taken into consideration from member surveys and conversations with the board and management.
During the off-season we replaced our hot water tanks for the showers and coupled with the new shower hardware
from last year, so we hope to make a vast improvement to the 60-year-old system. We have also moved forward in
adding some extra lighting around the outside of the building to provide our staff and members with a safe well-lit
parking lot. Other projects include bolstering our security by replacing our aging gates and locks, upgrading our sound
system with a more balanced and sophisticated ambiance for all, and lastly, painting the pools and other parts of the
facility.

With the 2024 season soon approaching, we have a few important changes that will occur. First, after holding rates
steady last year, we unfortunately had to increase them slightly. Family memberships will increase by $10, couples
$5, and singles $5. A major factor in the increase is the help make our lifeguard wages more competitive because
without our lifeguards we cannot open our pool. We will also increase our swim lesson rates from $65 to $80, keeping
us more than competitive and helping cover the cost of our guards teaching Red Cross swim lessons. Other rates for
rentals, guests, etc. will stay the same. Please take advantage of our referral discount (all paperwork must be
completed on time and correctly) and continue to bring your friends, family, and neighbors as guests. We can’t stress
enough how valuable your participation in our fundraisers throughout the year helps fund our special activities.
Sylvan’s 2024 season is special, as we will celebrate our 60th year, our Diamond Anniversary. Our annual “Christmas
in July” will be postponed this year and replaced with our “60th anniversary spectacular”. There are special activities
and entertainment planned throughout the summer, especially around July 4th, and the 4th of July weekend, since that
was noted as Sylvan’s first day of operation back in 1965. Our website, Facebook page, and flyers will have more
information as planning continues.

In closing, we are always looking for volunteers. Projects both big and small take many hands and minds coming
together to complete them. Please reach out or even stop in this spring if you see volunteers working around the park.
Until we open, have a wonderful spring, and stay healthy and safe.
