Sylvan Park Inc. Rules & Regulations

 General Information

a. All cards must be presented at the gate to enter the park. Repeated offenses will result in denied admittance to the facility. Subject to manager discretion.

b. Sylvan Park Inc. is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT Corporation. The corporation's owners are the members (fully paid life memberships in GOOD STANDING). Maintenance fees are assessed annually. Maintenance fees must be paid annually whether or not the member uses the facilities. To avoid payment/charge of the maintenance fee, the member must send a letter of resignation to Sylvan Park Inc. PO Box 222, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 with a postmark before opening day (Memorial Day Weekend). Delinquent/Unpaid maintenance fees are deducted from the membership value until the membership is removed. Deferred memberships, not fully paid, will be removed with no reimbursement of the membership fees.

c. Memberships (whether resigned or active) in good standing may be transferred (sold or gifted) provided proper procedures are followed. Delinquent/Unpaid maintenance fees and all deferred maintenance fees must be paid in full. A Transfer of Membership form must be completed. Individuals acquiring a membership must be eighteen years of age or older. Family memberships include children through the age of twenty-two.

d. Misuse of Membership cards or repeated violations of the rules and regulations will result in an immediate suspension of swimming privileges, ranging from one to seven days, as provided by Sylvan Park, Inc. By-Laws. In cases of gross violations, the President may call a special meeting of the Board of Directors. The Park Manager is responsible for enforcing all Rules and Regulations.

e. Failure to comply with verbal instruction from Park Personnel may be cause for the expulsion from the Park.

f. Sylvan Park assumes ZERO responsibility for lost or damaged property of members and their guests. This includes but is not limited to damage due to paint, grease, snags, ETC. . .

g. Automobiles, bicycles, and other means of transportation must be parked in the designated areas.

h. Situations arising and not specifically covered by the established rules and regulations may be handled by the Park Manager and reported to the Board of Directors.

i. Avoid parking along the grass on both roads near the intersection and crosswalk.

j. The parking lot next to the volleyball court is for employees and other workers at the pool.

k. Refrain from “camping out” at picnic tables during peak hours and busy days.

Admittance

a. The Park shall be used only by members as defined by the By-Laws except as noted concerning guest privileges

b. The Park shall be open for swimming as designated by the Board of Directors each year and will remain open through Labor Day unless otherwise designated by the Board. Standard operating hours are 12 noon until 8 p.m. daily. Times may vary due to inclement weather or due to a small number of members using the facilities. Swimming beyond the prescribed hours will be allowed at the discretion of the Park Manager.

c. Children under 12 years of age will be permitted to enter the Park only when accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older.

d. Persons under the influence or possession of alcohol, drugs, or possessing weapons of any kind, will be refused admittance to the Park.

e. All members must present their membership card(s) to the desk attendant when entering the pool area. Membership cards must be shown when requested by Park personnel.

f. If a membership card is lost, notify the desk attendant immediately. A fee of $2 will be assessed for replacing the first card. Subsequent replacement will cost $5. A parent or guardian must request a replacement card for a child.

g. Special swimming activities may be permitted, subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Guest Privileges

a. All guests must be accompanied by their sponsoring member at all times. The sponsoring member must be 12 years of age or older. When the sponsoring member exits the Park, the guests must exit as well.

b. All guests must register at the front desk before entering the pool area and must abide by all rules and regulations.

c. The sponsoring member is responsible for the conduct of the guests and for explaining all rules and regulations to the guests. Members under the age of 18 are limited to one registered guest per day.

d. Guest fees are posted at the front desk. 

 

Water Slide

a. “One person on the slide, one person on the landing” is the rule. No waiting on the steps.

b. Children age six (6) and under must be attended by a parent or adult guardian.

c. Small children are permitted to lap-ride with a parent or adult guardian.

d. Feet first, sitting, or lying on back are the SAFE riding positions.

e. PROHIBITED: Chain rides, head first rides, belly down rides, and free position rides.

 

Diving Well

 

a. Only one person will be permitted on a diving board at any one time.

b. Allow the previous diver to clear the diving well before your dive. All diving must be in a direction parallel to the sides of the diving well.

c. After diving, clear the diving well immediately by using the nearest ladder.

d. PROHIBITED: Diving and/or jumping from the sides of the diving well.

e. PROHIBITED: Excessive bouncing on the diving board.

f. PROHIBITED: Recreational swimming in the diving well.

g. PROHIBITED: Diving in less than five (5) feet of water.

h. Shirts and swim goggles must be removed. Diving restrictions based on individual swimming ability will be established by the Park Manager.

i. Children age six (6) and under must be attended by a parent or adult guardian.

 

Personal Conduct

 

a. Sylvan Park maintains a zero-tolerance for bullying. A person whose actions indicate abuse, intimidation, or threats, including the use of profanity toward another person or Park staff, is subject to immediate expulsion from the Park. This includes parents, adults, or guardians attempting to overrule staff discipline or decisions.

b. PROHIBITED: running, rough play, diving for or throwing objects, standing or sitting on the shoulders of another person, pushing, or other forms of rowdiness. Underwater distance swimming and playing "possum", spitting, spouting of water, or clearing of the nose or throat.

c. PROHIBITED: socializing with a lifeguard while on duty

d. All trash must be disposed of properly.

 

Babysitter Pass Privileges

 

a. A babysitter pass will be issued upon request ($50 charge). A babysitter pass is not a membership card and cannot be used outside of serving as a babysitter. Pass(es) issued for specific members are to be used for that specific member/membership only. A pass will not be issued to a family whose youngest child is 13 years of age, unless by special request to the Board of Directors.

b. A babysitter must be 16 years of age or older.

c. A babysitter cannot sponsor a guest. If the babysitter is accompanying the parent or guardian of the child, the babysitter is subject to the guest fee schedule.

d. A babysitter must accompany the child at all times, providing on-site supervision. A babysitter is responsible for the conduct of the child. A babysitter must abide by all rules and regulations.

e. Violating the babysitter rules or other misuse of the pass will result in confiscation of the pass with no refund.

 

Tot-Pool

 

a. Children five & under are permitted in the tots' pool. Parents/Guardians must supervise children at all times.

b. Food & drink are not permitted around the (concrete) pool deck. Absolutely no glass containers.

c. Any child who is not toilet trained must wear a "swimsuit diaper".

d. The lifeguard on duty is NOT a babysitter, adults must be with and/or supervise their child. 

 

Rentals: Pavilion/Patio/Night

 

a. Rental rules are supplied with the rental contract.

b. Renters are responsible for guests and must remain at facilities with them.

Social Media

a. PROHIBITED: Posting defamatory, derogatory, or inflammatory content towards Sylvan Park Inc.

b. PROHIBITED: Posting information or pictures showing illegal conduct in or on the Park grounds.

c. PROHIBITED: Harassing, intimidating, or hostile communication that is perceived as being motivated by an actual or perceived characteristic including, but not limited to: race, color, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, or disability.

d. PROHIBITED: Sharing confidential information about employees or other members in and on Park grounds.

 

In the interest of health, safety, and maintenance the following items are prohibited except those items noted or where appointed or approved by the Park Manager

a. Wagons, Personal Chairs, Tables, food, and open containers on the Pool Deck. Drink bottles must be kept sealed and     kept off the concrete deck, acceptable places are under benches and on cement wall caps. 

b. TOYS of any kind in the main pool

c. Unapproved flotation devices (see manager), must be US COAST GUARD APPROVED

d. Masks/goggles covering the nose, rafts/floats, water wings & other aids.

e. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, glass bottles, weapons, or illegal drugs

f. Animals, riding toys/bicycles, chewing gum

g. Refreshments in the tot pool area, around the slide pool & on the lower deck of the main pool.

h. Smoking/vaping within the pool area (fenced-in area), or within 25 feet of the entrance

i. Use of GoPro-style cameras in or near the pool, dive well, and slide pool areas.

j. Use of cell phone cameras in restroom/locker room area (handed over to local law enforcement).
